WYN’s mission is to transform the High Country community by nurturing and empowering our children so that they live healthy, engaged and fulfilled lives.

Our Values

  • We Believe

that every child deserves to feel safe, nurtured, and challenged to become the best version of themselves.

  • We Believe

that we are most fulfilled in connection with others.

  • We Believe

in our ability to heal ourselves and others.

  • We Believe

that building strong families will create a healthy community and a vibrant future.

  • We Believe

in the words of Dr. Nadine Burke Harris that “Early adversity does not have to be deterministic.”

  • We Concur

with Dr. Burke Harris’ belief that the toxic stress response is a health condition that is treatable, especially with early intervention.

At WYN, we value what makes you unique, in fact, we celebrate it. We believe that when people feel respected, it provides space for them to thrive. Inclusion and acceptance fosters a safe environment for everyone. WYN is committed to providing a safe space for all, regardless of race, gender, age, religion, identity, ability, and experience. Together, we explore diverse perspectives to propel our initiatives forward and transform the High Country community. Everyone is welcome here, authentically and holistically.

Our Model

Support

WYN connects children to nurturing and trustworthy adults.

Safety

When youth come to WYN they find stability and safety they can rely on.

Skills

WYN integrates essential life skill lessons into every youth program.

Our Methods

Using Love and Logic

WYN staff are trained in the Love and Logic curriculum, a trusted method for developing responsibility, self-control and good decision-making skills in children.

What is “trauma-informed” care?

To create a safe, supportive and healing environment for our youth, we must first recognize that our youth have experienced a variety of types of trauma. Re-traumatization is possible when a well-meaning but untrained caregiver says or does the wrong thing. WYN therefore takes it very seriously that every staff and volunteer person who will interact with our youth is trained to understand trauma and act with compassion towards those who have experienced it.

WYN’s Way

WYN is a safe space for young people to connect to caring adults while learning crucial life skills. We call our method, “WYN’s Way.”
