WYN Partnership with USTAF

Western Youth Network is a National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) chapter. We provide structured tennis in our sports league, educational tutoring with the help of the ASU education department/volunteers and the USTA’s ACE curriculum. ACE (Academic Creative Engagement), is a hands on learning experience with 50 academic lessons that connects education to tennis while highlighting the state standards.
The NJTL network serves more than 225,000 children each year, thanks to the efforts of more than 500 nonprofit organizations which provide free or low-cost tennis, education and life skills programming to under-resourced children throughout the U.S. WYN is honored to be one of twenty NJTLs in North Carolina that engages youth in tennis.
We started the project “Serve up Appalachia for the WYN.” that helps to improve our community’s health, build character, and achieve academic excellence. We will be hosting Community Play Days for our community to network, exercise, and provide a positive alternative for youth in the High Country. The funds for this project work towards providing healthy snacks for our students, tennis, and cardio equipment for our afterschool/ summer program, and help support Community Play Days.
WYN’s sports league offers tennis and basketball through the academic year. Our mission is to build confidence, character, learn emotional control, and improve social skills. We are non-competitive league that simply wants to learn technique of the game and more importantly to have fun.
