| About the Program |
The Western Youth Network Prevention program utilizes evidence based programs and practices to reduce and delay the onset of early substance use and substance abuse in our communities. Prevention efforts seek to engage community members in meaningful conversations, coalition building, and education to create empowerment and ownership with the objective of reducing the rate of substance use, abuse, and related consequences. WYN Prevention's ultimate goal is to create a healthy and safe environment for all High County community members and guests. |
| Community Education |
WYN Prevention Specialists use research-based prevention and education techniques to teach the knowledge and skills needed to make choices for healthier lives and safer communities. WYN serves all nine schools in Watauga County with expansion in both Avery and Ashe counties. |
| Evidence Based Curricula |
WYN uses several evidence based curricula for our prevention programs. You can learn more about them by following the links below.

| Trips for Kids |
"Trips For Kids National provides the materials, moral support and inspiration that an individual or group needs to help disadvantaged kids discover the joy of mountain biking. Operating in the United States and Canada, we open the world of cycling to at risk youth through mountain bike rides and Earn-A-Bike programs. The more than forty Trips For Kids chapters that we support combine lessons in personal responsibility, achievement and environmental awareness through the development of practical skills and the simple act of having fun."
